In a bold effort to overcome my fear of writing, I have taken on a personal project to learn to write well.

As a goal, I have decided to set a target of one million characters, or 200,000 words. Why that number? I felt that I needed to set a goal that was reachable in about a year’s time, but would force me to write more than my comfort level would normally allow. I imagined I could write between 500 and 1,000 words per day, but 180,000 to 360,000 words didn’t sound interesting. I used the assumption of 5 characters per word and saw that one million characters fit in there nicely. So there you go.
