May 20, 2008 – My Eyes Grow Blurry…

My photo time today was spent in front of the computer going through my vacation pictures in Adobe Lightroom. I took about 500 pictures over five days and ended up with 18 I really liked a lot, plus the 16 for the first day composite.

May 19, 2008 – My Vacation Face

Four days, no shaving, fishin’ hat, and a big grin.

The good news is I just want my hook back.

May 16, 2008 – Even Old Guys Have Fun

Tom and Sam enjoying Lake Shasta. The top three feet of water is delightfully warm – but once they blast through the thermocline they’ll hit the ice water. Then they’ll climb up and do it again.

May 15, 2008 – Leaving on Vacation

It was a long day, starting where a business trip left off in Burbank, to home in Northern California, then a six hour drive to Lake Shasta. All made wonderful because this is a trip I’ve been doing with two buddies for 10 or 15 years.

May 14, 2008 – No Wild Animals Here

I think the Spaniards stayed at the Safari Inn in Burbank when they were traveling up and down California looking for nice places to put missions. Or maybe the Beach Boys stayed here in the early 60’s and lobbied for the sign to include a neon surfboard. Either way, it feels like this place has seen LA grow up around it.

May 13, 2008 – Over LA

Taken atop Mulholland Drive in LA.

15 second exposure using on-camera flash. Obviously I walked away after the flash went off, letting the city lights from behind me shine through. I’m just that impatient.

May 12, 2008 – New MP3 Player

My old Sansa mp3 player gave up the ghost, but I bought the extended warranty from Best Buy, and they gave me full credit for my 1.5 year old unit. I was able to get a newer, smaller, more storage-er (8G) version with a new extended warranty and still have $17 left over.

What?! Not an iPod?! Hey, I love Rhapsody. Basically, I just rent all my music now. For the cost of a new CD each month, I have full access to their entire library (as complete as iTunes). I can stream it online, and can carry around 8Gigs of it with me all the time.
