I’ve been reading Scott McCloud’s “Making Comics” as a source of inspiration for using static images to tell stories. It’s already worked for this image, and was a strong influence for combining images here. He’s also got me imagining much more complex ways of combining images that I’m looking forward to experimenting with. Stay tuned…

I took the source image for this at the San Francisco Botanical Garden. The image was squared off, flipped, flopped, and copied about.
The plant is a Spiral Aloe (or Aloe polyphylla) – it is quite a beautiful plant with five way symmetry.

Final posting on the 2008 NAMM conference. Rockband and Guitar Hero were huge on the convention floor this year. Given how much the music equipment industry seems to be embracing the games, it must be good for the real musician business.

Everclear performed in the Taylor Guitars room at the NAMM conference. The performance was part of a parade of bands doing sets using Taylor’s new solidbody electrics.

I don’t know the process that causes this to happen, but there were a series of beautiful and near prefect leaf prints stained into the sidewalk.
