June 20, 2008 – Ice Vase
This is the top of a glass vase we have, lit a la "Light – Science & Magic" with white behind it and blue on each side. I then processed it in Lightroom to tint the bg blue also (probably could’ve just gel’d the flash). I like the cool icy look, probably because it was 100 degrees here today and we were working outside for part of it. Ugh.
June 19, 2008 – 737 Shadow
I was standing in the Hertz car return lot at LAX this morning enjoying being right under final approach. The sun was in the perfect position to cast the landing planes’ shadows right down on us. There was only about a three foot lateral variation in where each plane shadow was, it’s amazing how accurate these guys are lining up on the runway. Over the 20 minutes I stood there taking pictures the sun moved and the shadows slowly worked their way across the lot.
I asked our pilot later, and the landing speed of a 737 is about 150mph, so these shadows are going about that speed, or 220 feet per second. Good thing my Canon 40D can shoot at 6.5fps!

June 17, 2008 – Golden Contentment
Shane, sitting on the boat’s transom just watching the water. He sat or layed there for at least half an hour while we had lunch just enjoying the view.
The weather was perfect at San Luis Reservoir today – moderate temp, no wind or clouds, and only one other boat and two jet skis on the entire lake. Did I mention it was a Tuesday?

June 13, 2008 – Horse Sense
The horses at Stanford’s stables love visitors. As I was walking past they all came over to see who it was, including this fella. I understand this is a flymask and that he can see through it, but I’m not a horse person and it looked like a blindfold to me, so I cracked up when he came over and stared right at me.
