
Sarah’s commitment to community and public service is at the core of her paid and volunteer work.
In 2018, Sarah launched Rosendahl Consulting with a focus on partnering with government and nonprofit agencies to make our community an excellent place to live.
She previously served as Chief Legislative Aide for San Mateo County Supervisor Don Horsley. She provided support for his work on the First Five Commission, HEART (the Housing Endowment and Regional Trust) HOPE, the County’s Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness, and the County’s Legislative Committee. She provided analysis and support for the annual budget process and led his policy and projects in the area of Foster Youth, Housing, Agricultural policy.
Prior to her work with Supervisor Horsley, Sarah served as Senior Field Representative for State Senator Joe Simitian and was responsible for a variety of issue areas including Housing, Transportation and the Environment. She also served as his Non Profits Liaison.
Upon graduation from University of California, Davis, Sarah developed a career in San Francisco as an advertising executive. She worked in the Media Department with clients that included C& H Sugar, the California Raisin Advisory Board, Dryer’s Grand Ice Cream, and Ore Ida Potatoes. Following a move to Account Management, Sarah worked with The Clorox Company, Del Monte Foods and Vipont Pharmaceutics.
Sarah has also made a commitment to volunteer work that includes service on local, regional and national Boards of Directors, statewide committees and local and regional advisory boards.
Sarah’s long term commitment to Rebuilding Together Peninsula (formerly Christmas in April) began in 1989 as a member of the founding team and as its second Board President. She also served as President of the Southern California Coordinating Council, and, for six years, as a member of the national board, based in Washington, D.C.
A past president of the Junior League of Palo Alto MidPeninsula , Sarah is committed to women’s leadership and community action. In her role as Chair of the Junior Leagues of California State Public Affairs Committee, she worked for passage of legislation addressing issues including youth development, child welfare, childcare, domestic violence prevention, and voluntarism.
Currently Sarah serves the community through her membership on the Board of the California CASA Association. She made a commitment many years ago to support children and youth and did so through her membership on the San Mateo County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission, the Board of CASA of San Mateo County, and as an Investment Advisor for the Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s Foster the Future Fund.
Sarah finds joy in spending time with family and friends and singing, and loves to spend time traveling, reading, delving into family history, and hiking in beautiful places.
